The Future of Fashion is Circular

Here at CND we have long campaigned for an end to the use of nuclear energy: it’s dirty, it’s dangerous and it leaves us with a legacy of toxic waste which harms both us and the planet.

That’s why in 2016 we partnered up with the geniuses at Teemill to produce 100% organic, sustainable clothes using only renewable resources to support renewable energy and spread the anti-nuclear message.

Yet, with climate change an ever increasing concern, the ethical clothing gurus at Teemill have rightly highlighted how ‘fast fashion’ is producing another kind of waste which is destroying our environment; every year 100 billion new items of clothing are produced while a truck full of clothing is burned, or buried in a landfill every second.

This has a tremendous role in accelerating climate change - textile production emits a staggering 1.2 billion tonnes of CO2 per year. That’s why we agree with Teemill that this huge problem calls for a huge solution.

As such, we could not be more delighted to announce our support of Teemill’s 'circular fashion’ alternative – a truly revolutionary way of creating clothes which radically re-calibrates our relationship to the earth’s finite resources, allowing us to tackle nuclear and resource waste.

What is circular fashion?

Glad you asked! Circular fashion is the production of clothes which are entirely made from start to finish to be reused, infinitely. This means that every product is created to be remade endlessly from its inception, not just recycled or up-cycled before its eventual destruction. This ensures that clothes are recirculated, not turned into waste.

This has never been done before. By using entirely plastic free, pure materials, Teemill’s clothes are soft on your skin and the environment and ensure that at every single stage of production – from dyeing to packaging – these clothes won’t be creating waste.

So where do I get one?

Well that’s the great news – as of today, our classic ‘Give Peace a Chance’ tee is available made entirely from re-used T-shirts!

If that wasn’t great enough, when you wear out any of the T-shirts you’ve purchased on our Teemill store you can return them for free to receive £5 off your next purchase and see your old T-shirt re-enter the supply chain to continue the circle. Simply scan the barcode or follow the instructions on the back of your T-shirt’s label – it couldn’t be simpler!
